Georgian College was founded in 1967 as Ontario’s first co-op education college. The college aims to inspire innovation, transform lives and connect communities through the power of education. Georgian forms partnerships with local and international employers. Currently Georgian is in partnership with 6,200 employers. Due to these partnerships over 4,100 students gain experience in paid co-ops every year.

At present Georgian enrolls 11,000 full-time students; out of which there are 1,100 international students belonging to 60 different countries, has 62,000 alumni and spans over seven campuses. Apart from business partnerships Georgian also forms academic partnerships with other institutes; the college’s partnership with the Continental Institute for International Studies (CIIS) allows Indian students an opportunity to transfer to Georgi..

The partnership with B.P. Marine Academy (BPMA) in India, leads to Indian students having an option to transfer to Georgian after one year of studying at BPMA.

For English Language proficiency, Georgian College requires IELTS:

•  Diploma/Certificate programs – 6.0 overall and no band below 5.5

•  Pharmacy Technician – 6.5  overall and no band below 5.5

•  Bachelor of Science in Nursing – 7.0 overall and no band below 6.0

For certificate, diploma and degree programs Georgian College requires:

•  Senior secondary / high school transcripts with proof of graduation, subjects and grades; MINIMUM AVERAGE MUST BE 55%

For graduate certificate programs Georgian College requires:

•   College or university transcripts with proof of graduation, subjects and grades; MINIMUM AVERAGE MUST BE 55%

•   Resume outlining work/volunteer/internship experiences and a letter of intent stating reasons for applying

Georgian Student Housing

They  offer a variety of housing options for students – from on-campus residences (Barrie, Orillia and Owen Sound campuses) to off-campus apartment buildings, room and board, and houses to rent or share.

PRIVATELY RUN ON-CAMPUS RESIDENCES

 The  residences are managed by Campus Living Centres and offer everything you need to make your college experience fun and safe. Each one is different, but they all include private bedrooms with double beds, shared kitchens and bathrooms, as well as high-speed internet or Wi-Fi. Privately run on campus residences are available at the Barrie, Orillia and Owen Sound campuses.

The Barrie Campus is the only campus that offers a full on-campus residence. The residence houses approximately 525 students, which includes 16 live-in residence life staff. Georgian College Barrie Students will meet people from around the world, have quick access to class, the Student Life Centre, the Athletic Centre, and all the various services that the Georgian College Barrie campus provides.

OFF-CAMPUS RESIDENCES (RENTALS)

Apartments are situated within five minutes walking distance of Georgian College. These four-storey residential buildings house 257 students and have been specifically designed to meet the needs of students attending Georgian College.

Georgian College also guides students for off campus accommodation. Information for renters and landlords who are looking to find or promote accommodations for students.

They use a third party service to maintain any of our off-campus housing listings.  Please note that Georgian College does not inspect any of the listings to verify for accuracy, safety, etc.  Please use due diligence when looking for off-campus accommodations.

HOMESTAY

 The Georgian College International Homestay program provides exciting opportunities. Students can experience a Canadian lifestyle and establish relationships within the community.  Homestay program provides safe, caring and interactive hosts with whom international students can improve their language skills and cultural awareness. Homestay hosts provide necessary household items, including a furnished bedroom for the student. Most homes are located close to public transport or within walking distance of the campus.

FULL HOMESTAY

The host provides a variety of nutritional, well-balanced meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) every day – including weekends.

SHARED HOMESTAY

The student shares the kitchen with the Homestay host. The student buys, prepares and cleans up after his or her own meals. The Homestay host helps the student become familiar with the kitchen, explaining use of equipment as well as where to find grocery stores and cooking supplies.

Scholarship for BINT, HRMN, INSS & RAPP Grad Cert:

Georgian College is offering Special scholarships for ALL students who will begin the graduate certificate programs of International Business Management (BINT), Research Analyst (RAPP), Information System Security (INSS) or Human Resources Management (HRMN)  at Georgian College. This scholarship is for ALL international students.
